I have 2 question, that can be sum in one: I have a NAS with all my huge comics collection, is it possible to access from iOS app remotely to my NAS bypassing YACReaderLibrary OR is it possible to create the library inside my NAS comic directory and access into it as the YACReaderLibrary?

:P

Ok, it is a bit complicated and i suppose it can't be done. But maybe I'm offering you some good ideas for new features.

Good job, however!

Hi Gianchi83,

some users have ask me about this feature. I am not sure if you can create a library in your NAS using YACReaderLibrary, just create a folder with a couple of comics and try it, if doesn't work I will need further details in order to fix it.

I am not sure about the remote access from the iOS app, I need to spend some time thinking about how to implement it.

Thank you so much for purchasing the iOS version.

Hello!

First of all thank you for your nice work!
I confirm that it is possible to create the library in a folder located on a NAS.

I would like now to make it easier to use it from my IPad. In a perfect world I would like your IOS app to have the following features:

1. Be able to create the library from the IPad for a shared folder located on the network (could be NAS or computer).
2. From the IPad select the comics I want to download so I can read them offline, directly from the library without using a computer.
3. When back to home the Ipad synchronized with the library and update the comics status (read or not read).

That would be perfect to be able to manage everything from the IPad :)

I can imagine that could be difficult to directly archive it so here is an intermediate state that is maybe easier. I join another user who posted a suggestion to sync back from the IPad to the library on the computer:

1. When accessing the library on the computer from the Ipad you can see the comic status: read or not read, like this it is easier to know which comic to download.
2. When you sync back to the computer, the library on it is updated with the modifications made on the Ipad.

You said that you were seeing limitation in it if different users are accessing the same library. I don't know how easy it could be to do, but a solution could be to be able to create different libraries in a same folder, so everybody has his own library.

Of course I am ready to make a donation so you can buy many coffees for the long coding nights you have ahead ;)

Thank you again!! ;)

Thank you for the suggestions Stovovic.

Right now I am working in new importing capabilities. One of the tasks is going to be redesign the remote library browser and I am going to add the read status and some more information about comics and folders. It will also be possible to read a comic "online" without the need to import it first.

The "sync back" feature is a must, I didn't have time for opening a proper topic for talking about it. But there are some situations where could be conflicts and ambiguity.

Sadly, I don't have a NAS for playing with it so I can't find a good solution for this. I think it could be possible to access the NAS via samba from the iOS device and import files and folders from there. If anybody wants to donate a NAS.... ;)

Hi Luis!

Thank you for your quick answer!
The feature you are currently working on is already a nice one :) It will make my import choice easier as I will know if a comic is already read or not. I can then make the sync back manually for now! ;)

I guess that you can "emulate" a NAS by creating a shared folder on your computer. A personal NAS is no more but this: few shared folders that can be accessed by SMB or Samba.

My dev skills are poor but don't hesitate to contact me if you need help!

Thanks again!

Hi!

Excuse me for stepping in your discussion. I have a suggestion to @Gianchi83 and @Stovovic.

I have the same interest on saving my library on my NAS. I tried to just save the library in a shared folder on the NAS, but it turned to be really slow, since there's too much comics.

My solution was to install the BitTorrent Sync on the NAS and on iPad. It's beta yet and it's far from the beauty of the YACReader Library, but it's working good and I can access my comics even from the street and without the need to leave my personal computer turned on.

Thanks for your attention guys!
