Hi!

I use YACReader on Windows and iPad. The android version interests me, because that's my smartphone. However, in the playstore it's called YACReader Remote. Does this mean that you can only read online? The iPad version allows to download, for offline reading. Is this not the case of the Android version? If not, it's in the plans to added that feature in the future?

The release plan for the Android version is to keep it 100% remote until 2.0. Then it will support local libraries and importing from YACReaderLibrary.

Thinking of buying the android app but I'm assuming one you can't use it if YacReaderLibrary and YacReader Remote aren't connected to the same network?

You can access the server from outside if you configure your router properly (port forwarding), you also need a way to know your public IP.

Android -> Public IP/Port -> Your router -> Your YACReaderLibrary server setup.

Some people use a reverse proxy or ssh tunneling to add a security layer.

Damn okay, any guides on how to set that up, port forwarding has always been a challenge for me

It depends on your router, so check its user manual.

Port forwarding is assigning a port number in your router to a local IP and port. When the router gets traffic in that port it will send it to the IP and port you tell it. You want your local IP static.

What you can try to do is setup everything and try to access your library using a web browser -> http://ip:port and see if you can make it work, you can purchase the app after that.

So for example my YacReaderLibrary is running on port 8080 and my local ip is 10.96.41.151

In the router setting what should I put under:

Local Start Port
Local End Port
External Start Port
External End Port

and in the end how will I access the port from outside the network.

Is `10.96.41.151` your local IP or your public IP? It looks like a public IP to me.

Local port, start: 8080, end: 8080
External port, start: 8080, end: 8080 | (but it can be a different one, 9999, 10123, etc.)

To access the server from the outside you need your public IP, whatever it is, and your external port
