Is it possible to connect to my library over a wireless connection?

Yes it is, there are several ways, you can use port forwarding or you can setup a VPN.

Okay cool. Can anyone point me towards a resource that would explain how to use port forwarding?

Check your router manual.

I'm still not having any luck connecting remotely. When I'm connected to my LAN, I'm able to access my YAC server through the android app and by navigating to http://ip:port on my phone browser. That all stops once I've disconnected from wifi. YACreader library is allowed through my Windows' firewall. I tried setting up port forwarding for my PC's ip and my public ip using port 8080, but that didn't get me anywhere either. When I open the "server connectivity info" window from YACreader library, I'm only shown my PC's ip address in the drop down menu. I'm running the latest versions of YACredaer library and the android app. Not sure what I'm doing wrong (or doing at all honestly).

The server dialog is only useful when you use your LAN.

If the router is properly configured you need to use its public ip and the port number that’s mapped to the YACReaderLibrary port.

e.g. 85.167.45.78:9999 -> 192.168.1.100:8080

The arrow represents the port forwarding dome by the router. 85.167.45.78:9999 is what you would need to use when you are not connected to your LAN.

Support YACReader

YACReader for desktop and server is free to use, but it is not free to develop: maintaining this website, developer programs, code signing certificates, test devices and, of course, all the time it takes. Less than 0.01% of downloads end in a donation, so any amount counts.

By supporting the project you help keep it regularly updated and, most importantly, alive. Thanks!
